4th of July Party Games Pack Review and Flash Giveaway

Congratulations, Darryl S.!

I am always looking for fun games and activities for the younglings. They seem to especially appreciate themed activities. With Independence Day coming up, I was excited to be given the opportunity to review the 4th of July Party Games Pack from Python Printable Games.

The pack retails for $19.95. At the time of writing, it consists of:

  •  Independence Day Trivia game
  •  Independence Day Mad Libs
  •  Patriotic Trivia match game
  •  Presidential Trivia game
  •  State Nicknames match game
  •  Beers of the World placemat game
  •  Nasty British Food trivia
  •  Military Trivia
  •  Baseball Trivia
  •  Survival of the Fittest party game
  •  Red, White & Blue Scavenger Hunt
  •  Happy 4th of July Left-Right
  •  American History trivia
  •  Independence Day Synonyms game
  •  Fast Food trivia
  •  US Beers match game
  •  Tangled Tongue Twisters Tango
  •  Pick the Party Stars
  •  Meet Your Match acting game
  •  The Color of Music

According to Python Printable Games:

Some games are suitable for just kids, some for teen to adult, and some for adults only.
We have tried to reflect the typical multi-generational mix at Independence Day parties, so there is something for all ages and tastes.
Our games don’t come with restrictions or time limits. You can keep these games forever and reuse them on other occasions, so games that might not be useful now may come in handy later!

I looked through all the games and picked out the ones that I thought were appropriate for my younglings (ages 3-15) and that they would enjoy. The Adults-only games are easy to pick out and looked like they could be fun also, I just didn’t have a good set of testers!

The Younglings thought the Independence Day Mad-Libs and Tangled Tongue Twisters Tango were the most fun. Even the youngest had fun trying to repeat the tongue twisters after the older ones read them! They found most of the trivia games and the Synonyms game too difficult. Venture Scout (15yo) even thought they were too tough.

Overall, it was a fun set of games that is worth the investment, particularly if you have a family gathering coming up!

The generous people at Python Printable Games have offered a 4th of July Party Games Pack for one of  my readers. Enter at Silverdragonheart’s facebook fan page (click on the Rafflecopter tab).

I Can’t Get Enough of Starbucks!

I grew up in the Twin Cities, but have lived in southern Iowa for almost ten years. There are a very limited number of things I miss about living in a big city. Public Transportation. Children’s Museums. Jo-Ann Fabrics. STARBUCKS!

“Hello, my name is Sarra and I am a coffee-aholic.”

“We love you, Sarra.”

Yeah, kinda sad, but seriously I was asked the other day, “What one man-made thing could you not live without?” I could survive without my electronics – I would be sad, but I could exist. I could live without modern appliances and electricity. I could even manage without indoor plumbing, we do it a camp all the time. It’s not easy, but life goes on. The one thing I can’t survive without, even at camp, is COFFEE! I wake up looking forward to it every morning. I appreciate it even more at camp, where it takes extra effort to fire-perk every pot. I can manage without the soda that I drink at home, but not without my coffee.

And I love, love, love Starbucks! No offense intended to those who love Caribou or other such coffee houses, but Starbucks is my first love. I worked as a barrista for a while and I loved it! I closed the store four days a week and opened one. I loved the late nights, the caffeine-fueled conversations, the smell of freshly ground beans, ALL of it. I didn’t even mind inventory – it was my dream job! I would do it again in an instant, if I could make the money that I make now at my desk job.

I liked hanging out with The Guys after work. We would go to a local bar, have a drink, eat some appetizers, and decompress after closing down the coffee shop. It allowed us some time to unwind, which was good for us and great for our poor sleeping spouses!

My favorite drinks haven’t changed much over the years. I’m especially fond of anything chai-based, iced or hot, spiced or vanilla, caffeinated or not. I also love me a Venti Caramel Macchiato with extra foam! Add a scone or biscotti to the order and I’m almost in heaven!

My obsession is so bad that, even though we live over an hour from the nearest Starbucks, my children think it’s one of the coolest places in the world. Scout sees a neurologist in Des Moines two to three times a year, and he considers it a great treat to be able to eat lunch at Bruegger’s and get Frappuccinos at Starbucks.

I had four of the five children who still live at home in the car after the soccer tournament two weekends ago. We ran through the Starbucks drive-thru on the way home, so that I could get a Venti Iced Chai Latte and a half-dozen mini scones. You’d have thought it was Christmas in June!

Do you have any addictions or obsessions that you have passed on to your children? What are they?

10. The Best Bit of My Weekend?

Boy Scout “took one for the team” – there’s some debate as to whether the other player punched him or cleated him in the face. It looks more likely to have been a punch, to me. The offending player received a Red Card and had to leave the tournament. The other team’s coach found us after the game and asked if he was alright. He has a couple of small scratches, a bit of a bruise and a very sore jaw, but he’s fine otherwise.

9. My View

From our hotel room window. We had a great day of soccer tournament play. Now to the pool!

8. 6 o’clock

Dinner with Grandma at Pizza Ranch.

Loving: Undercut Bugslinger UV Buff from Planet Buff – look for a review eventually

Reading: Thirst, book 1 – I will be starting it this weekend at the tourney. Venture Scout just finished it the other day and she thought I would “LUUUV it!”

Watching: The Woman in Black – tonight. after I get home from all my errands. while I finish packing for this weekend. I rented it from redbox last night, but I forgot to watch it!

Anticipating: Kohl’s American Cup this weekend – Spring Soccer is almost done!

Laughing About: the price of saws-all blades – crazy!

Listening To: Galileo Radio on Pandora

Eating: Pizza Ranch with Grandma, Maelduin (NSFW), and the Younglings

Working On: entering time cards for my day job – I spent all day working on them, since my my student worker wasn’t there.

Wishing: Soccer would register itself for the Fall season. I’m the Registrar for the local soccer club and, while the Spring season is finishing up for the Younglings’ teams this weekend, I’m already working on Fall season registration.
